Mary is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years experience in child welfare,
specializing in early childhood development, adoption, divorce, step families, and relative
adoptions. She is a behavior consultant she provides family support services for area
adoption agencies and provides individual and group supervision for licensure.
Mary has gained her best adoption knowledge and experience from her 6 adopted
children. Mary's children are from Korea, Vietnam, India, and African-American
heritage. Mary has gained wisdom through watching her children struggle to cross
cultural, national, and family lines to create a new lives for themselves. "The
parenting of any child is a life time commitment that reaches into the next
generation, creating a safety net for biracial grandchildren."
Her theoretical basis highlights solution focused, strengths based, and narrative or
honoring of each person's story. Her favorite way to work with children is through
play therapy, and teaching play therapy to parents (filial therapy). Her passion is to
reach out to adoptive families with realistic coaching that helps build strong,
emotionally healthy children and happy, energized parents.
